TELECONFERENCE

What is a teleconference?

Our Teleconferences are interactive courses with a live facilitator that take place by telephone, with participants calling in from the comfort of their home or office.

How do I get all of the information for the day of the call?

You will receive an email (please make sure to give us your correct email address with your registration) with all of the login information to a password-protected site. On that site you will retrieve the following:

  1. The PDF downloadable workbook for the course, which you can print or view on your computer. We recommend that you keep this on hand during the teleconference, as there is important material that relates to the course.
  2. The 800 number and the passcode/pin to get into the teleconference.

Will I pay for long-distance charges during the call?

We provide a toll-free number and pay your long-distance charges from the USA. If you will be accessing the call from outside of the USA, there is a local USA number available as well.

Will I have the opportunity to ask questions?

Yes; throughout the program, there will be multiple opportunities to ask questions and discuss the material presented.

What can I do to minimize background noise?

The biggest challenge in hosting a successful teleconference is minimizing telephone noise. Teleconference calls are two-way, meaning, that everyone can hear the background noise of any single participant. So, PLEASE, locate yourself in a quiet environment for the call, and if there is going to be background noise, please MUTE your phone while there is noise in the background. If you do not have a mute button, you can press *4 from any touch-tone phone during the call to mute yourself. To unmute, press *4 again. Also, if you have HOLD MUSIC on your phone line, please do not put the teleconference on hold. To minimize noise, please do not use a speaker phone while on a teleconference.

Will I receive any materials?

Yes; prior to the teleconference, you will receive an email with instructions for downloading a PDF version of the course workbook. If you have not received an email with instructions for download at least two business days prior to the call, please call our office at (800) 524-2396.

How do I get CLE credit for a teleconference?

To receive CLE credit, after completing the course, please FAX the course evaluation found on the last page of the workbook to (512) 533-0001. All of our teleconferences are live and participatory but may qualify for DISTANCE or SELF-STUDY learning in your state, depending upon your state's particular CLE rules and regulations. Please see the detailed credit information on our website for specific course credit available in a particular state.

After receiving your course evaluation, we will email you a certificate of attendance for the course and, depending on the state rules, report credit to the state bar. Please note, some states require lawyers to report their own credit. If you are seeking credit in a self-reporting state, we will not report credit for participation.

OBTAINING CLE CREDITS

The Likeable Lawyer only reports credit for live seminar class participation in the state where the class took place. If any participant requires credit in any other state, it is that participant's responsibility to self report. Please keep in mind that all products other than live seminars and teleconferences are considered 'self-study' credits. The Likeable Lawyer does not report credit for teleconferences, audio CDs, DVDs, or other formats except as required by several state bars as listed below:

California

MP3 FORMATS

What is an MP3?

  • An MP3 download is a downloadable audio file.
  • Although playable on a standard PC or Mac, MP3 download programs are ideal for uploading to an MP3 Player/iPod to be played on the go.
  • An MP3 Download is audio only, there is no video.

What do I need to listen to an MP3 download?

You will need the free QuickTime player or iTunes.

I clicked on the link for my MP3 Download, and nothing happens.

  • Be sure to wait for the media to finish packaging before clicking on the [Download] button.
  • Try right-clicking on the [Download] link, then select [Save target as...]

How do I request credit for an MP3 download program?

While you are listening to the class, you will hear letter codes. Please write down these codes. If your accrediting agency requires these codes, you will be asked to provide them for verification purposes. Rules may differ depending on the state you are registering in. When you are finished, return to MY PROFILE and download the course evaluation form (PDF) for the class. Print the form, fill it out completely, and fax to (512) 533-0001. We will submit your application for credit.

STREAMING VIDEO FORMATS

Streaming video is the ideal way to train without leaving the comfort of your office or home. Once you purchase a streaming video, you may access it immediately or log back into your account later to complete.

To access your video, click the class link at MY PROFILE and watch/listen to the class.

How do I log into my account and start my class?

Go to the MY PROFILE page, and click on the "watch video" link for the class in your orders.

What are the recommended/minimum system requirements for viewing streaming videos?

Streaming video plays through our website. You will need only a Flash plug-in, which is standard with all web browsers.

How do I restart the seminar if I stop it or get disconnected?

Return to your MY PROFILE page and click the class link. Your video will begin playing again. Videos are usually divided into two segments, and from either segment you can fast forward or reverse to where you left off.

How do I request credit for a streaming video class?

Throughout a streaming video, you will hear/see letter codes. Please record these codes. If your accrediting agency requires these codes, you will be asked to provide them for verification purposes. Rules may differ depending on the state that you are registering in. When the program is complete, click on the link to the evaluation form. Print the form, fill it out completely, and fax to (800) 524-6901. We will submit your application for credit.

CDS AND DVDS

Thank you for purchasing audio CDs and/or video DVDss from The Likeable Lawyer. The following information will hopefully answer all of your questions. If you have any additional questions, please call us at (800) 524-2396 or email us at info@likeablelawyer.com

What materials will I receive with my purchase?

The CDs and/or DVDs you purchased will be sent by Federal Express shipping or other comparable service. Please allow up to 3 weeks for delivery unless you selected the 2-day shipping option. There will also be an electronic workbook associated with each course that you purchased. To access and download the workbook, please log into the MY PROFILE page on our website and download the appropriate workbooks for the classes you purchased.

Is there any interactive component to CDs and DVDs?

Yes. If you have any question about the material, please email your question to questions@likeablelawyer.com or call (512) 448-1133. An attorney will answer your questions within one business day.

How does The Likeable Lawyer monitor participation

Several state bars require The Likeable Lawyer to ensure that lawyers seeking credit for CDs and DVDs listen to the full program and require that we embed a code periodically in the recording. When you hear/see the various code announcements, please enter the spoken code in the section provided in the evaluation page which is the last page of your workbook. After completion of the course(s), please fax the evaluation page to (512) 533-0001. After receiving your course evaluation, we will email you a certificate of attendance for the course.

Can I share my CDs and DVDs with other lawyers?

Our CDs and DVDs are sold on a single-listener license. Additional licenses can be purchased on a per person basis for half the cost of the original purchase. To obtain additional listener licenses, please call (800) 524-2396.

Is CLE credit available in my state for CDs and DVDs?

CLE Rules vary from state to state. The courses offered on our CDs and DVDs are recordings of live, interactive classes that qualify for CLE credit in most states. Some states accredit CDs and DVDs as DISTANCE or SELF-STUDY learning, while other states accredit them as LIVE, PARTICIPATORY AND/OR INTERACTIVE credit equal to live classes. Other states do not grant CLE credit for listening to CDs and DVDs.

When possible, The Likeable Lawyer will seek precertified accreditation for our CDs and DVDs. If our CLE calculator states that credit is available for CDs and DVDs, then we have applied for and received credit for these formats. If the CLE calculator does not give specific credit for a particular state, then we have not applied for CLE credit for CDs and DVDs in that state. The Likeable Lawyer does not warrant that CLE credit is available in any state unless the CLE calculator specifically lists credit for CDs and/or DVDs in that particular state.

Do you offer refunds for CDs and DVDs?

We do not offer refunds for CDs and DVDs. In the event that you have received a defective product, we will replace the defective aspects of your purchase at our cost.

How do I get CLE credit for CDs and DVD?

Except in the states listed below, The Likeable Lawyer does not report CLE credit for listening to our CDs and DVDs, and it is the individual lawyer's responsibility to report their own credit. When asked to do so, we do make our purchase list available to the state bar for verification purposes.

California

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you cannot attend, we will gladly transfer your registration fee toward any seminar within one year of registration. Substitute registrants are welcome. Our policy is to not issue monetary refunds.

To cancel your attendance at a seminar, we prefer email (registration@likeablelawyer.com) or fax (800) 524-6901, with your name, course name, date, and city.
