1:15 - 2:15   An Atmosphere of Influence
Influence is built on perception of trust and credibility. This section introduces four subtle yet powerful elements that change other people’s perceptions and set a more agreeable mood.
2:15 - 3:45   Getting Them to Say “Yes”
Success in the practice of law depends on getting others to say “yes” to our proposals and requests. Clients and lawyers often become difficult when they perceive rejection of their ideas. This section presents the techniques of the most influential lawyers who rarely say “no,” and instead artfully re-direct discussions toward their own objectives.

4:00 - 5:00   Transforming Difficult Conversations
Opposing lawyers, clients and colleagues are more likely to listen to us if they feel they have been heard. In this section, lawyers learn the elements of influential listening and funnel questioning, and how to communicate with others in a way that invites professional support.

Jeffrey Stec, J.D. has been a licensed lawyer since 1992, having practiced in the area of complex-family matters, including estate, divorce, and child custody disputes. Jeff developed his collaborative skills by becoming a certified mediator and strategic planning facilitator, specializing in family issues. Jeff has developed an expertise in the collaborative resolution of disputes, and in addition to his work with The Likeable Lawyer, he is currently a sought-after consultant who works with non-profits and municipalities to fashion solutions to complex organizational and community issues. Jeffrey graduated with honors from the University of Michigan Law School, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with high honors from the University of Michigan.
