8:00   Registration
8:30 - 9:30   Influencing Decisions
Two separate brain processes affect decision-making. By examining the cognitive/conscious as well as emotional/unconscious elements of decisions, lawyers develop insight and greater leverage toward increasing influence over just about everyone.
9:30 - 10:30   A War of Misunderstanding
Misperceptions often compromise our objectives. This section makes the case that a significant percentage of conflicts and disputes are avoidable, and explores opportunities to shape the perceptions of those we seek to influence—clients, co-workers, bosses, subordinates, and fact-finders.
10:30 - 10:45   Break
10:45 - 11:45   Managing Stories
Why are clients, lawyers and staff so quick to exaggerate meaning and ascribe malicious motives? This section examines people’s tendencies to make up stories, and explains how to use this insight to get others to see things our way.
11:45 - 12:15   Preparing to Influence
By understanding the unconscious elements that influence decision- making, lawyers are able to significantly increase their success when working with others.
