1:30-2:30pm   Bypassing Unproductive Perceptions
Learn how to bypass various perceptual barriers to successful working relationships by building rapport, demonstrating care, and thus strengthening relationships that result in increased influence. At the completion of this section, attorneys will have tools to affect how they are perceived by other lawyers, clients, and others, thereby improving opportunities for influence and persuasion.
2:30-3:30pm   Techniques to Overcome Difficult Emotions and Maximize Persuasion
In order to maximize influence, it is imperative for lawyers to identify the driving forces behind potential emotional upsets or concerns in order to minimize the disruptive effects of negative emotional reactions. In this section, lawyers are given tools to dig beneath emotions in order to discover the core needs, interests, and values of all parties involved. By doing so, lawyers are better equipped to realign the parties towards better outcomes and minimize stress and anxiety in the process.
